| Project accomplishments
1. CONSTRUCTION AND RENOVATION PROJECT OF SHELI
PRIMARY SCHOOL, KAMONYI DISTRICT
The new construction and rehabilitation of Sheli Primary School,
Kamonyi district will start as soon we get approval from the
Ministry. Already we have the recommendation letter from the
District mayor waiting for your office to approve.
AMURT has secured $ 82,429 for construction of the school from
our development partner the Embassy of Japan.
There will be 5 new classrooms, renovation of 12 existing
classrooms, fixing of water tanks, 10 toilets blocks, furniture,
a drainage system for rain water and leveling of the play
ground.
COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION
The School committee, PTA helped by the Rugalika sector
authority and Kamonyi District will participate in the plot
survey, expropriation of the crops located in the plot area and
landscaping. They have also promised to source locally available
materials, security of the materials and supervision of works
during the construction of the project.

2. STUDENT SPONSORSHIP PROJECT
Apart from the school construction program, AMURT Rwanda will
also continue with Student Sponsorship.
This year 25 Secondary School pupils and 25 Primary School
students from different districts in Rwanda will benefit from
this program by being provided with school fees and materials.
3. HIV PREVENTION AND AWARENESS PROJECT
AMURT has a project of an HIV Prevention program in primary
schools in Kigali City. Good communication and information
materials with international standards adapted by Rwanda
Education Policy will be used.
4. TREE PLANTATION PROJECT
We have a Tree Plantation Project in Kigali City. We have
selected the valuable tree called "Neem". Neem Tree is well
known for its medicinal value, oil, fruits and ornamental
splendors suitable for the environment. We will make a nursery
using seeds brought from Kenya. We shall start in Gikondo
District.
5. HEALTH CARE CENTER PROJECT AT GIKONDO
AMURT Kenya the Regional head quarters of Africa, is running 4
charitable hospitals in Kenya, treating HIV/AIDS and general
patients together with the Government of Kenya. AMURT Rwanda
inspired by the Kenyan AMURT chapter, plans to open a charitable
health care centre at Gikond for the benefit of the local
community. It will perform general treatment and take care of
HIV/AIDS patients, VCT and other HIV related issues. The request
application for plan approval is with the Ministry and we are
waiting for their response.
Some projects are to be completed by December 2008, while the
Sheli Primary School and Health Care project at Gikondo will
continue up to 2009.
AMURT looks forward to get support from the government to
continue taking a major role as a developing partner in the
restoration of Rwandan society.
